Possible Etymology?
[edit]Could this be somehow related to Ottoman Turkish (or any other cognate/descendant) آل (al) meaning red (crimson) due to the color? Derivative of this word is ალისფერი (alisperi) which means Crimson(y) red, bright shining red. -Solarkoid (talk) 22:49, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- You are an absolute genius. Alisperi surely couldn't be a derivative of ali, which is red, since it's fire! Not to mention that the use of ali in Georgian literature precedes Seljuk invasions. 82.211.179.11 06:07, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
- Could you be more condescending? I admit that makes sense. Could you find the earliest attestation of ალი in Old Georgian literature? That would help instead of just straight up deleting the etymology... Thank you.
- Also about ალისფერი that's exactly what I said? I compared the Ottoman Turkish meaning to the Georgian derived word (As mentioned from ალი) meaning. Seriously dude just chill
