Rune[edit]

The left one of these: is to be used where the question marks are but Unicode hasn't added that character yet for some reason and I couldn't find a picture with only that rune on it. Does anyone know how to add the character? Also I don't think that it should be cursive.Jonteemil (talk) 21:05, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Alternative Form[edit]

I suppose I have to ask where "Þórr" actually comes from, because "ᚦᚢᚱ" would spell "þur" if transliterated, meaning that "Þórr" wouldn't actually be Old Norse. The runic inscription provides a "u" rune, not an "o" rune, and there's no second "r" rune. So where does "Þórr" actually come from? It seems to me that "Þórr" would be some later Icelandic variation, not Old Norse. Einbjorn (talk) 21:34, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The younger futhark didn't actually have separate letters for u and o, so this was the closest they could get with the letters they had at the time. —Rua (mew) 21:36, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
