What evidence is there that ἀντίπατρος has anything to do with opposition to Mithraism? Was this just someone's speculation? It seems far more likely to me that it means "like the father," analogous to how ἀντίθεος means "like a god." The Greek prefix ἀντί can mean both "against" and "equal to, corresponding to."

Unfortunately, Liddell doesn't seem to have an entry for any variant of ἀντίπατρος, so I can't say for sure if this is so. Mahousu (talk) 19:50, 5 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
