Definition[edit]

Definition needs to be checked by a native speaker. Uncertain if there are additional definitions beyond "Wa people." 24.93.170.200 08:08, 29 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you; why was the "bo" pronunciation removed? I didn't see that in the edit summary. 24.93.170.200 00:16, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

There is no evidence that "bo" is, or has ever been, a valid Mandarin pronunciation for this character. The only Mandarin pronunciation listed in Hanyu Dazidian (one of the largest character dictionaries available, →ISBN) is wǎ. There are a number of single character entries in Wiktionary which have invalid Pinyin Romanizations as a result of a bad bot script that was run a few years ago. I try to fix the entries as I come across errors, but 20,000 entries is a lot to go through. -- A-cai 05:15, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the thorough explanation. Those strange alternate pronunciations can be confusing, doubly so if they are wrong. It may be, however, that the bot was right in some cases and that they're very obscure pronunciations in very special contexts 24.93.170.200 06:38, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
