Borrowing from Japanese?

牛頭人／牛头人 (niútóurén) is from Japanese NTR (NTR) because the Pinyin initials of 牛頭人 is NTR, as in, when you type NTR in a Chinese input method, you'll get 牛頭人 as one of the results. NTR is an abbreviation of 寝取られ (ねとられ, ​netorare), which means adultery.
It is an internet slang term, and it's created because words like 婚外情 (hūnwàiqíng) and 不忠 (bùzhōng) are too "formal" for internet use, so a word for casual use is needed. --ItMarki (talk) 12:32, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
