Problems with Min Nan Pronunciation[edit]

There are many pronunciations. I will list sources and what they say.

  1. 闽南方言大词典 (for Quanzhou, Xiamen, and Zhangzhou) - A mistake seems to be here since it lists "thoān" twice for Xiamen and Zhangzhou, and have thoàn and toàn for Quanzhou. Since Quanzhou doesn't differentiate 陰去 and 陽去, it can be assumed that it is 陽去, since it normally follows the tone of Xiamen and Zhangzhou. For the double listing of "thoān", the other is probably ""toān". Therefore, Quanzhou/Xiamen/Zhangzhou - toān / thoān, by inference.
  2. 普通話閩南語詞典 (for Xiamen) - toān / thoān / thoàn.
  3. 台文/華文線頂辭典 (for Taiwan) - toān / thoān / thoàn. Seen from different entries.
  4. 當代泉州音字彙 (for Quanzhou) - thoàn / choǎn
  5. 台日大辭典台語譯本 (for Taiwan, old reference) - thoàn
