This dictionary claims that the Japanese word is a loan translation of Dutch trommelvlies, though I doubt it. If it's a loan translation from a western language at all, it could just as well be tympanic membrane or German Trommelfell or something else. The dictionary is written by a respected Dutch professor, but I've found it not very reliable, in fact amateurish at times.
