There are at least 5 ceremonial axe heads which have been inscribed in Ugaritic cuneiform as belonging to the rb-khnm "the chief of the priests"

Les textes administratifs nous montrent qu'il existait également tout un clergé, évoluant dans l'entourage du roi, et travaillant dans les temples. Le prêtre de base est appelé khnm (cf. les kôhen/kôhânim de la Bible hébraïque). Il existe un grand prêtre (rb khnm).
