A remark

[edit]
If the proto-semitic word is šanat, then the word "year" should be written 𐤔𐤍𐤕 .
In the Hebrew Wiktionary the Phoenician word for "year" is spelled 𐤔𐤍𐤀 .
The Moabite belongs to the same language-family, so it should also be spelled 𐤔𐤍𐤕 .

@ShlomoKatzav: The Phoenician and Punic though isn’t spelt 𐤔𐤍𐤕, normally at least, its plural is spelt 𐤔𐤍𐤕. Hebrew Wiktionary does not have a page 𐤔𐤍𐤕 nor 𐤔𐤍𐤀 and the spelling 𐤔𐤍𐤀 on he:שנה is likely merely a fancy. You should talk to people on Hebrew Wiktionary. Hello, Fay Freak
With regard to Phoenician, you're right. It was my mistake, not a mistake on the Hebrew-Wiktionary.
The Hebrew-Wiktionary is referring to the verb "change". There are some paragraphs for the word "year".
