@hippietrail It's unclear. I've read a short passage about it. There are only speculations. The only thing, which is certain, is that it's not of Chinese origin, it's a phonetic transliteration of another language, probably Manchu, so there's no point in trying to translate it, the whole word, not just the first two characters.
