Just for the record: According to Ngrams. "Albtraum" and "Alptraum" were roughly equally frequent by 2008, with a clear trend in favour of the former. "Albtraum" is now not only recommended, but also more common in practice.

The DWDS Kernkorpus 2000-2010 has an exact tie of 56 each for both spellings (including all inflections). So, this confirms that by 2008~10 they were equally common. In such a situation it is already reasonable to make the favoured spelling the lemma, apart from the fact that "Albtraum" very probably has surpassed "Alptraum" since then.
