etymology of Cory

[edit]

The definition lines say this is "derived from the surname" but don't list a surname sense. They also contradict the Etymology section, which cites older given names; and both contradict varius "baby name" Web sites, which give another etymology altogether.—msh210 19:10, 18 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Nobody knows what the name originally meant, either in Old Norse or Irish, so you can read imaginative explanations in baby name websites. As if it really mattered what a name "means" — the whole idea of a name is that it doesn't mean anything---Makaokalani 13:33, 10 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
