It would be very desirable if the term "Franconian" in English were restricted entirely to the Bavarian region and "Frankish" were used in all other contexts. There's absolutely no reason why it shouldn't be "Low Frankish" or "Moselle Frankish". And in such a way all confusion between said region and the much broader linguistic area could be avoided.
