Grammes[edit]

In old books one can read [number] Grammes, e.g. "Gewicht von zehn tausend Grammes", "Injection von 8 Grammes aufgekochter Milch", "1000 Grammes Wolle". Is Grammes a form of Gramm or another word? If it is a form of Gramm, is it a rather rare and obsolete plural or is it a genitive, i.e. is it like "(take) multiple grams" or "(take) multiple of the gram"?
PS: One can also find Gramme as in "Man nimmt 1 Gramme von dem zu untersuchenden Holze". So Gramme (with pl. Gramme) probably is an old alternative form of Gramm resembling a french word (or less likely the english gramme). -80.133.111.184 09:23, 6 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
