I think something was mis-transcribed.

In the quotation from Loyola, I suspect that:

"...ac si cadaver essent."

should be:

"...ac si cadavera essent."

I.e. using the plural for cadaver, since the verb is plural (as is the sense).

It's not hard to see how the error crept in when someone linked to the other page on "cadaver" in the singular.

Perhaps someone could check an original source for the Loyola quotation and verify?
