For what it's worth, I believe that a couple of years ago I frequently, perhaps predominantly, read the form "Katari". Now at the beginning of the World Cup, the media standard is clearly "Katarer". My informed guess: It's because "Katari" is difficult to feminise in German. You can hardly say "Kataris und Katarijas"... But well. If the gender craze makes us use a more native German form, at least it does something good for once. 88.65.40.9 01:30, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
