Wolof apparently has more than one term for Khaya senegalensis, the main Khaya in that area. Another term apparently is kail. In the orthography of Wolof, khay may actually be xay. Checking.--A12n (talk) 13:21, 19 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Several sources - including Merriam-Webster unabridged and Orou G. Goue and Tamara Ticktin. 2009. "Fulani Knowledge of the Ecological Impacts of Khaya senegalensis (Meliaceae) Foliage Harvest in Benin and its Implications for Sustainable Harvest." Economic Botany 63(3)': 256–270 - indicate "khaye" as the Wolof form (actually one of two synonyms) for K. senegalensis. The latter was the first tree of the genus described according to Goue & Ticktin. However, in the standard orthography of Wolof (which I don't speak), I think "kh" may now be "x." Still checking.--A12n (talk) 13:06, 21 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
