Label

[edit]

@JnpoJuwan You changed the label from "in personal ads" to "Internet slang" in multiple entries. Don't these abbreviations predate the Internet dating era? Einstein2 (talk) 12:36, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Einstein2 I did so as these these are nowadays commonly used mostly on the internet, this was also a bit of an oversight on my part, I'm sorry. what would be the best way to mark these? Juwan (talk) 12:45, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@JnpoJuwan I changed the label to "in personal ads, now chiefly Internet slang", would you say that's accurate? I see you've also added masc/femme meanings – are these attestable as opposed to male/female? Einstein2 (talk) 16:48, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Einstein2 lose the "chiefly"? for the masc/femme senses, I'll try to find quotes, but likely fail because I don't know how to search specific senses for acronyms ahah. Juwan (talk) 17:18, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@JnpoJuwan Hm, I suppose they may still appear inside classified ads in print newspapers but I haven't looked into it. The masc/femme meanings have just been reclassified as standalone senses by an IP, although I'm not sure if they are distinct enough to have two sense lines. After thinking about it, perhaps "in personal ads or Internet slang" would be the most simple and inclusive label. Einstein2 (talk) 17:54, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
seems good to me! Juwan (talk) 21:10, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
