Label
[edit]@JnpoJuwan You changed the label from "in personal ads" to "Internet slang" in multiple entries. Don't these abbreviations predate the Internet dating era? Einstein2 (talk) 12:36, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Einstein2 I did so as these these are nowadays commonly used mostly on the internet, this was also a bit of an oversight on my part, I'm sorry. what would be the best way to mark these? Juwan (talk) 12:45, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
- @JnpoJuwan I changed the label to "in personal ads, now chiefly Internet slang", would you say that's accurate? I see you've also added masc/femme meanings – are these attestable as opposed to male/female? Einstein2 (talk) 16:48, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Einstein2 lose the "chiefly"? for the masc/femme senses, I'll try to find quotes, but likely fail because I don't know how to search specific senses for acronyms ahah. Juwan (talk) 17:18, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
- @JnpoJuwan Hm, I suppose they may still appear inside classified ads in print newspapers but I haven't looked into it. The masc/femme meanings have just been reclassified as standalone senses by an IP, although I'm not sure if they are distinct enough to have two sense lines. - After thinking about it, perhaps "in personal ads or Internet slang" would be the most simple and inclusive label. Einstein2 (talk) 17:54, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
- seems good to me! Juwan (talk) 21:10, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
