Not sure if red herring is correct here. Isn't that a deliberate attempt to mislead the audience. i'll leave it for now until I've had a chance to check it out. Any thoughts??--Dmol 10:51, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, a red herring is different from a McGuffin. Red herrings are, as you say, a deliberate attempt to mislead, while a McGuffin is really nothing at all. —Stephen 12:23, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
