Etymology[edit]

There is another explanation for the name Napoleone. As it is well known, in Italian dialects, "Ne ha" (meaning "of it, he has") is frequently apocopated to "N'a". In some places in Italy with Greek influence (there are some villages in the south that still speak Greek today) the god Apollo was called "Apollon" and "Apollone". Also it is known that the cult to Apollo survived in some parts of Italy after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. It is accurate to say that the name Napoleone plausibly comes from the words "Ne ha Apollone" that apocopated were "N'a Apollone", meaning that the baby had some of the virtues of the God (like for example the beauty). Thank you for not eliminating this.
