Two etymologies for the two meanings?

[edit]

This article (in German) says that the meaning "trifle" is unrelated etymologically to the name of the mushroom, but rather derived from South German Fünferling, itself from Fünfer (fiver), which is perhaps a calque of the French expression "cela ne vaut pas cinq sous" (that is not worth 5 sous).
