Suggested Gothic etymology[edit]

The English etymology section had read:

From the Italian Verona and the Latin Vērōna; the ultimate origin is uncertain, but possibly a corruption of a Gothic name, as the city was conquered by Ostrogoths in 489.

I removed the part about a possible Gothic origin, which followed the semi-colon, in this revision; the quotation in the Latin section from Livy's Ab Urbe Condita Libri (27–25 BC), which uses Verona, renders the Ostrogothic conquest of no possible etymological relevance. — I.S.M.E.T.A. 16:39, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
