This definition is terrible. Yet it is the standard definition of the word and seems to be the only one out there. I come across this word all the time, but have no idea what people mean by it. Of course it relates to Wagner, but what does it mean when someone says that something is Wagnerian in scope, for example.
- They are referring to The Ring Cycle, an immensely long opera. A typical performance is 15 hours over 4 nights. So something very large, possibly exhaustive of a subject (in your example of "Wagnerian in scope"). (And certainly exhausting ;-) Robert Ullmann 07:16, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
