Source?

[edit]

Does anyone know the source of this form? My copy of Beowulf has "Wedera" (see line 423), which is translated as "Geats." Is there another source that uses "Wederas"? Vergencescattered (talk) 05:48, 3 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Wedera is the genitive plural, and Wederas is the expected nominative plural, i.e. the lemma form. In the latter half of the poem it's more consistenly spelled Wedra. ᛙᛆᚱᛐᛁᚿᛌᛆᛌProto-NorsingAsk me anything 13:37, 3 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

I see, so it's just an odd translation. Thank you! Vergencescattered (talk) 04:10, 4 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
