[edit]

Is the format we've chosen at Wiktionary for place names to use a capital letter for the initial word, then lower case for all subsequent words? 71.66.97.228 08:49, 11 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, we use the correct capitalization. In this case, there is no need to capitalize hahoodzo. Wikipedia is famous (or infamous) for capitalizing words inappropriately (such as w:Red Fox, which should be red fox).
Anyway, few languages capitalize as much as English does. I think German is the only one that does, but they at least do it systematically and logically. In Navajo, few words need capitalization, except perhaps stylistically in headers or titles. —Stephen 12:47, 11 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
Oops, I might have read this before moving it. But how to be sure which is correct? Without reference, it doesn't seem unwise to trust the Navajo Wikipedia. I will leave it capitalized for now and let the pundits fix that if needed... - Olybrius (talk) 09:33, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ouch, I see some states are capitalized while others are not! At least the Navajo Wikipedia is consistent and capitalizes everything ;) - Olybrius (talk) 09:38, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
