Usage note: inform somebody (jargon)[edit]

The use of advise to mean "tell somebody about something" is regarded as jargon and best avoided in formal usage: Please advise us of [better: let us know] your new address; I will advise them [better: inform them] of the new time of the meeting. JMGN (talk) 20:47, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
