I have removed the line "In the US, an adviser has a connotation of someone offering unsolicited advice, while an advisor is someone speaking with at least some amount of wisdom or authority." as the page for "adviser" had the same line with Es and O's switched, contradicting this line.

The SEC (the part of USA govt that actually oversees advisers) actually prefers "E".
