aitch or haitch??

- The "correct" pronunciation is (of course) "aitch". But we are a descriptive rather than a prescriptive dictionary and record actual pronuciation in the real world. SemperBlotto 15:04, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, but being descriptive diesn't mean being incorrect. The explanation at w:en:H#Name in English is informative. It can be accepted that the pronunciation "haitch" is increasingly common, but that doesn't change the correct written form. I've made a couple of edits [1], [2] (for which I now see I failed to log in for - what happened to SUL?) but also think a note about the misspelling should be included at aitch#Alternative forms.
