blankhit[edit]

https://en.m.wiktionary.org/w/index.php?title=blankhit&action=edit&redlink=1

Middle High German blankhit could mean blank+heit which would indicate usage of the root 'blank' with nominal suffix 'hit'> 'heit', the colour existing in French as 'blanc' - white and in English (via French) as 'blank' (empty). So blankhit could ultimately stem from the semantic field of 'whiteness'. Any ideas? Ralphhalgas (talk) 12:21, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
