1. • 1928, Proceedings of the Boston Society of Natural History, volume 38, page 379:

     Sam Mizell commented upon the superstition that albino Deer have a ‘beazle-stone’ (an evident corruption of ‘bezoar’) in the throat, and will cough it up when wounded.

   • 1982, Wisconsin Natural Resources: volume 6, published by the Wisconsin Deptartment of Natural Resources, page 134:

     [...] "beazle" stones and believed to come from the deer's esophagus. Taylor says that when a beazle stone was "found thrown up by a deer wounded by a hunter, it was carefully preserved and worn around the neck next to the skin for its presumed curative value in rheumatism or heart trouble [...]"
