Is there any source for sense 4?

[edit]

Most references to "bodkin" meaning "dagger" seem to be associated with misinterpretations of the reference to a bodkin in Hamlet quoted under sense 4, in which the bodkin referenced is a hole-punching tool rather than a dagger. On that point, even if there is a source for this sense, the Hamlet quotation is not using "bodkin" to mean dagger and is therefore inappropriate, as is the other quotation (which even lists "bodkin" and "dagger" as distinct implements). 24.189.138.37 19:55, 6 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
