The Wurzels[edit]

The Somerset band ‘The Wurzels’ memorably sing about britches in their song I am a cider drinker - the official lyrics say breeches though. There are some old examples of West Country and Cumbrian speech were people say britches on GoogleBooks which I’ll add as quotes too but it’s definitely mainly Souther U.S nowadays (they also say the very Southern American sounding cuss in their song Don’t tell I tell ‘ee, much like my late gran from Staffordshire said cuss - though apparently they say, or at least said, coss in a very traditional and broad Staffordshire dialect.).
