Talk:burgoo

As a native of Owensboro I find it ridiculous burgoo is somehow from Welsh terms for cabbage or some Arabic term instead of a bastardization of the French ragoût. French fur traders were active for centuries in the Ohio and Tennessee valleys and would eat the sort of mixed second-rate meats "roadkill stew" is famous for. Now I could be wrong, and if there's one thing the internet has its people smarter than myself, but if an Arabic word describes the barbecued pork soup cooked by Southern Baptist churches I will be laughing for a very long time. I welcome any etymologist to give my theory a good ponder and weigh in.
