Verb edits[edit]

I accidentally submitted my edits to the Verb section without an explanation so I'm putting it here...? Sorry!

I added the most popular usage of this term in US English, which refers to winning enough regular season games to secure your team's spot in the championship/postseason/etc (usually baseball but often generalized to any ranked sport). I also reordered the definitions so they were closer to being in order of usage frequency and etymological origins.

However, I think at least a few of these definitions are redundant; confirming my suspicions is the fact that no other dictionary has such redundancy in their definitions, nor do they have nearly this many.

(I'm pretty new to this so I sincerely hope I helped more than I harmed the page!!) LaymansLinguist (talk) 10:54, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
