Spelling of "carosse coupé", the origin of the word[edit]

Different sources seem to list the origin of the English coupé as either "carosse coupé" (Collins English Dictionary) or "carrosse coupé" (with a second r) (Dictionary.com, Online Etymology Dictionary). I previously changed the spelling to use two r's (which seems to be the modern French spelling, but may not have been in the 19th century); however, I undid my edit because I felt it would be better to ask here first. Although the spelling of carosse/carrosse is not that significant, should it be noted that two spellings may have existed, or is one spelling/source preferred over the other?
