Food[edit]

Now while I am not sure to have found the sense Krieche, how do you translate these senses in cook-books, @Djkcel? Practice of Cookery and Pastry, Adapted to the Business of Everyday Life p. 82 (mirror), The new London family cook p. 58 (alt.). Just a food which is “a curl or roll”? OED has “a curl or roll of hair” only with 14th century quotes. Also it has a rare diminutive of crock (pot) but this is impossible here (“cut out a small bit of the thick ends of the crockets”). Hmm, I could be wrong but that recipe seems to be referring to a croquette. Damn it, I'm hungry now. DJ K-Çel (contribs ~ talk) 18:39, 29 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Djkcel: You are probably right. I have long not had any croquettes. This is it then with Germanicized stress, on the first syllable of the stem instead of on the second syllable. croquette is probably often enough not stressed like now given on Wiktionary.
