The term desenrascanço, in this usage, has a much more subtle meaning than simply "disentangle." As a personality trait, it describes one who is quite adept at getting oneself out of trouble or one who is clever enough to improvise creative solutions to seemingly impossible situations. The closest English equivalents are the colloquial "hack" or "MacGyver" which name a creative solution to a problem using improvised, temporary means (to MacGyver/a MacGyverism/"pull [execute] a MacGyver") or cleverly re-engineering a device to make it either more useful, more efficient, or more aesthetically pleasing (a hack). 98.219.48.232 09:18, 27 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
