Alternative spellings[edit]

Hi there User:Leasnam! I'm fairly new to editing OE Wiktionary. You've added the alternative spelling dunylf, but I wonder how much point there is listing alternative spellings that are not actually attested? If we did that with all words, the process could go on for a very long time! It might also give the impression that the spellings exist in the textual record when they don't? Just thought I'd see what you think about this. Alarichall (talk) 10:02, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Alarichall ! I completely agree with you on not wanting to add hypothetical alternative spellings ! However, 'dunylf' is attested: Þá castalidas nymphas, ꝥ synt dúnylfa þá þe wunedon on Elicona þǽre dúne. In this example it is plural. Leasnam (talk) 13:49, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oops! Sorry User:Leasnam! Of course it's attested. Silly me. Sorry for wasting your time! Still, good to know the principle :-) Alarichall (talk) 17:07, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
