If the primary meaning is "male homosexual", I'd rather guess it's a calque of Russian петух, literally "rooster", but also "prison bitch", i.e. "passive participant in repeated sodomitic practices between prisoners, either as a victim or as a consenting prostitute". 46.186.32.6 16:24, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
