One species?[edit]

The current definition claims that this applies to one particular species of stonewort, Chara hispida. But this USGS report seems to talk about it in relation to other species: e.g., "Gyrogonite of Tolypella grambasti differing from the type species in being slightly longer and possessing an average of 7 rather than 10 convolutions visible laterally." There's a book on Google Books that talks about "Gyrogonite of Lamprothamnium macropogon". Might be better to just say something like "various stoneworts of the order Charales", which covers everything here. 70.172.194.25 05:33, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
