Etymology[edit]

Are the Germanic words with h- really related with "ankle"? It seems more likely that they are related with "shank" per s-mobile. Compare German hinken. The two roots may have been associated with each other early on, but it seems unfortunate to say that the h- was added irregularly when there's actually another root that perfectly explains it. 90.186.170.193 04:43, 29 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
