Talk:heus

The third meaning of the Dutch word I added might be w:Flemish.
In any case, in the Flemish texts I consume, the 'impressive for being undistinguishable from the real' meaning is the only way the word is used, typically for making announcements of events sound appealing. I know the 'polite' and the 'real' ('unfake') meanings, but they are never used in w:Flanders. Maybe the 'impressive' nuance is added there because the word is perceived as w:Netherlandic Dutch, which is a more prestigious variant of Dutch.
The Flemish use of 'heus' might therefore be autological: 'impressive for being (announced as) undistinguishable from the real' Netherlandic Dutch word.
