hippie+bourgeoisie

[edit]

In 'Settlers', Sakai writes "There are, of course, different types of settler [=White USAmericans] communities, distinguished by a number of things, including by class. The community of multi-millionaires in Palm Springs or Aspen is very different from the communities of Canarsie or Skokie or Charlestown. As are the "hip-eoisie" communities of Berkeley or Greenwich Village." The book being written in '83, hip- is probably hippie, and Sakai being a communist, -oisie probably refers to the literal Marxian bourgeois.--Simplificationalizer (talk) 16:05, 17 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
