Etymology[edit]

I'm curious about the source for the etymology being the word instar. The Lewis and Short dictionary states that the word is derived from the Greek σταυρός. There's a very real possibility that newer information is at hand from say the Oxford Latin Dictionary to which I don't have access but if so, I'd love to see a citation for it.
