Reasoning for this refers to the term “interbinary”–

 Adjective
1. (astronomy) Between the components of a binary star

And the combination of “introvert”–

 Adjective
1. (of a person) Who focuses primarily on their own mind, feelings, or affairs.

Specifically regarding the etymology of introvert:

Origin:

 Modern Latin
   intro- (to the inside)
      |———— introvertere ———— introvert
   vertere- (to turn)

It seems that by compounding the Latin “intro-” prefix with the “-binary” suffix of “interbinary”, you can reasonably accurately describe a planet that orbits between two stars in a system that is not necessarily a binary star system.

This is my first time using Wiktionary.org to submit a word, and this particular word was brought about in response to http://whatif.xkcd.com/150/, where he has no significant word for a planet that orbits between two stars in a singular system.
