The reason that this should be in the Category:French phrases is that it's idiomatic. Otherwise, explain to me how "I pray to you about it" means "go ahead, do it". Mglovesfun (talk) 07:30, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Class versus Formality[edit]
The question is whether the phrase is more formal than "de rien", and I think that is a good way to say it. But the phrase is used by the bourgeoisie as being more elegant/refined. That is, that "de rien" which is used by a cafe waiter, would not be used by a hostess at a dinner party. The same is true of the cafe waiter, as they would not use any la-di-da (little pinky finger sticking out) bourgeoisie code word. Coupe (talk) 15:52, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
