@Habst From Arabic جُمُوع (jumūʕ) or another form from the root ج م ع (j-m-ʕ) with some Swahili suffix, or a chance resemblance? The meaning is close, but I cannot decide this. Fay Freak (talk) 20:32, 8 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Fay Freak hi, pretty sure this comes from jumuia + causative suffix -isha. i had originally written that jumuia comes from jamii (from جَمِيع (jamīʕ)) and doubted that at first but this pdf seems to validate that so i'll add it back. it's not in any of my etymological dictionaries. --Habst (talk) 01:16, 9 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
