And did you make any effort to exclude US usages separate from other countries? I dispute the validity of google as a search tool for lexical occurence; especially given the number of pages that may have legal disclaimers in the US containing this word....Skookum1 (talk) 03:41, 22 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Not just UK[edit]

I don't know how to fix/apply the relevant templates, but this is inomplete: "(UK) Alternative spelling of libelous." I'm not sure about Australia and South Africa and so on, but in Canada this is definitely like double-l. There's a tendency in Wikipedia, as also in Microsoft and Apple spellcheckers, to level English usage into a binary division between US and UK spellings; but that's not right, at all. That Wikipedia has a heavy US-English bias of course is a given; in my own Canadian view, because there are more countries (and more people) spelling things the supposedly "UK" way (but not all things the UK way....), then the US spelling should be named the "alternate" one...I've even seen a spelling still in use labelled "archaic" here.......Skookum1 (talk) 03:39, 22 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
