Sense 1 is two senses

[edit]

When you put cream on your lips, you don’t put it on the entirety of the “fleshy protrusions”, you only put it on the pink-colored part of the protrusions where they meet, the part with a tendency to get chapped. This part is what people’s minds generally leap to when you say the word “lips”. So there are really two senses? Maybe this meronymic sense should be put as a subsense of sense 1?
