A hunt for additional quotes didn't turn up anything that looked citeable, but it did convince me that the word is used in the sense of "woodenly literal" in fields well beyond that of Christian theology, where I first came across it. Checking a few Google pages does not a dictionary definition make, but it is probably noteworthy that I found only one or two examples of the original, purely neutral sense of "pertaining to literalism or literalists". --2603:6081:8004:DD5:497E:E054:AD55:9B4E 07:50, 28 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
